The 44th President: The First 100 Days - Progress Report - from CNN.com

The 44th President: The First 100 Days - Progress Report - from CNN.com.

CNN came out with a good issue tracker for anyone who wants to stay on top of President obamas report card. This looks like a good place to find what’s going on as opposed to what the news media is jumping on lately.

I just hope that people realize when it comes to issues like the economy, energy, and health care that he can’t work miracles without the cooperation and participation of some other important big players in those industries.

It would certainly make sense to try to align himself with people in those industries to find out what can be done to make energy and healthcare more affordable.

The status of the economy is really in the hands of the average American. When people start spending, things will improve.

Since we are talking about what some have termed “The People’s President” we need to stay on top of these issues and the progress so “the people” know what’s going on. When you know what’s going on and you write or call your congressman to voice your opinion, you are getting involved and you can call yourself the “Presidents people”.

Let your representatives voice your opinion for you.

Obama to Host Democrats, Republicans at White House Super Bowl Party - First 100 Days of Presidency - Politics FOXNews.com

Obama to Host Democrats, Republicans at White House Super Bowl Party

via Obama to Host Democrats, Republicans at White House Super Bowl Party - First 100 Days of Presidency - Politics FOXNews.com.

Now wouldn’t you like to be on the guest list? President Obama invites a list of Democrats and Republican, fans amongst them for both the Cardinals and the Steelers.

Throwing a Super Bowl party at the White House is not a bad idea on his part. If this group of politicians can socialize together, drink together, and share some entertainment they will undoubtedly not be so quick to bicker or squabble over minute details while at work.  They may feel more open to raising future dialog between them.

How the others that didn’t get invited to the White House Super Bowl party will feel is another thing. Let’s face it, most politicians like to get favors and special treatment. We see examples of what can happen under similar circumstances with our own kids. You know little Johnny’s not going to like it when he finds out his brother Billy  got something and he didn’t. I don’t think some adults are too far removed from reacting the same way.

Am I contending that politicians can behave like spoiled brats? Let’s wait and see.

President Obama is Steelers fan

People want to know, and President Obama obliged. He is a long time Steelers fan. As he says, “The Steelers are closest to my heart”. After all, he’s an average guy, or at least he comes across in the media as one, so you can bet the Whitehouse TV will be on the Superbowl this Sunday. The real question is “what beer is he drinking?”

Personally, I don’t care who wins either way. I get more out of the commercials and the half time show. I wanna see who tops the cave man commercial, or which internet hosting company tries to make us think their service is sexier than anyone elses. Now, if they put those babes in tech support and men can call them year round, they might have something they can market.

This year Bruce Springstein rocks America for 12 minutes and bet’s are flying around everywhere on which songs he’s gonna play. Some are saying a medley is in order since he has so many popular songs, but the all time vote seems to be for Born in tne USA. Do you think 12 minutes is enough to make him sweat?

White House Business Casual dress code

Photos of jacketless Obama at White House may signal subtle culture shift

I’ll bet clothing retailers are drooling at the thought of President Obama setting a standard for buiness casual dress in the near future. The stiff traditional coat and tie standards that Bush set in the White House are gone forever.

You’ve got admit he seems like a pretty relaxed sort of guy. Some are atributing that to his being raised in Hawaii where, as we all know, Aloha shirts rule and everything else is optional from shorts to sandals.

Punctuality is something else that has changed. Bush was known to have locked people out of meetings for not showing up early. President Obama on the other hand shows up early, but if there is still something to discuss, the meeting’s not over til he’s satisfied with the progress.

You must admit this is the ultimate work from home position. Unlike most American families where everyone get’s up and rushes out the door on their own schedule and few have time for the traditional family breakfast, President Obama eats breakfast with his wife and kids, sees the kids off to school and then commutes downstairs to work. You have to admit though that having white house staff to cook and serve breakfast for the first family is the exception to the average American family that makes this possible.

I wonder what the mother inlaw does?

Obama “Commemorative Coins” Advisory Issued by US Mint - Coin News

The United States Mint has now issued the following Obama “Commemorative Coins” advisory:

via Obama “Commemorative Coins” Advisory Issued by US Mint - Coin News.

It seems the US mint has issued a statement saying the recent wave of President Obama commemorative coins popping up for sale everywhere are, in a lot of cases, modified US mint coins, and not worth the added price.

Companies have bought original US mint President Obama commemorative coins and colorized them, often with an image that is completely different from the original imprint, or some have even gold plated them.

Buyer beware.

Obama seeks GOP help, suggests open to compromise

Obama tells GOP he’ll consider changes on eve of big House vote on $825B stimulus plan

via Obama seeks GOP help, suggests open to compromise | Newsweek Politics | Newsweek.com.

It seems President Obama is willing to try to move things along and being open to compromises is his way of enticing the GOP to talk about it.

So far President Obama has proven to be a student of political history. He obviously does his home work. In his defense his spokesman cited how Ronald Reagan created tax breaks for low income earners and that he was willing to do the same.

Of course the Republicans tried to poison the well by urging  their co-horts to oppose President Obama’s stimulus measures.

The comprise seemed to turn into each party trying to whittle away at components of the stimulus package that favors their opposition.

Text of President Barack Obama's inaugural address - Yahoo! News

Text of President Barack Obama’s inaugural address on Tuesday, as delivered.

OBAMA: My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many
